To serve the community with chiropractic care for the promotion of well-being, through the utilization of compassion, experienced clinical skill, and professionalism.
Approximately twenty plus years ago Dr. Mary Cleaves began a solo practice in Bel Air, Maryland. It was an exciting time in the history of Harford County for the region was expanding at an amazing rate. It was during this time that the office became the first female chiropractic office in the history of Bel Air. It was a wonderful time to serve and offer wellness to many, and to be a chiropractor in Bel Air MD.
However life often presents challenges. In 1996 the office of Dr. Mary Cleaves chose to close its doors in order to meet the needs of her family. Although this decision was very difficult, it was necessary. Dr. Mary Cleaves was now able to offer care-giving services to her family, especially members of her family who were diagnosed with cancer. These experiences led Dr. Mary Cleaves to seek greater depth in the field of care-giving. As a result Dr. Mary Cleaves was led to attain a Master’s Degree in Ministry with an emphasis in Pastoral Care. Although she continued to practice chiropractic part time; she also served as a Chaplain and as an Executive Director for a disability ministry.
Subsequently Dr. Mary Cleaves encountered various professional experiences with multiple populations. Specifically she worked with individuals that live with dementia, cognitive disability, critical illness, and terminal diagnosis. These vast experiences placed Dr. Mary Cleaves in multiple clinical settings including, but not limited to residential homes, hospitals, hospice, and retirement settings. The professional background of Dr. Mary Cleaves plus, her clinical skill as a chiropractor in Bel Air MD has created a heighten awareness in providing health care with compassion for all people. As the office of Dr. Mary Cleaves moves forward she looks forward to serving the community of Harford County with this heighten awareness. Each person that walks into her office is treated as an individual with potential for wellness and with great significance.
